A man suspected of armed robberies Marin County and San Francisco was arrested after a pursuit in San Rafael, police said.
The chase started at about 6 a.m. Monday when an officer spotted a vehicle at Fourth Street and Grand Avenue that was similar to the one used in the robberies.
“The vehicle committed a minor traffic offense, and the officer attempted to stop the vehicle,” said San Rafael police Sgt. Justin Graham.
The driver sped away and eventually ditched the vehicle near San Quentin. Authorities surrounded the area and set up a traffic checkpoint. Marin County sheriff’s deputies, San Quentin prison officers, the California Highway Patrol, Novato police and Central Marin police assisted in the search.
Police arrested the suspect after finding him hiding in the back seat of a truck being driven by a suspected associate, Graham said. Authorities also found a discarded replica BB gun nearby that appeared to match the weapon used in the robberies.
Corey Brian Gill, 33, of San Rafael was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of robbery, kidnapping, possessing a stolen vehicle and drug possession. Police did not arrest the driver of the truck.
Gill is suspected of robberies at gas station in San Rafael on June 13, another gas station in San Rafael on Sunday and the Panera Bread in Novato on Sunday, Graham said. Gill also has a warrant for his arrest in connection with a robbery on May 14 in San Francisco.
