Marin County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a double shooting over the weekend that left one man dead and another person injured in Marin City.

Deputies responded to reports of multiple gunshots after 5:30 p.m. Sunday on the 200 block of Drake Avenue, near Donahue Street, Marin County sheriff’s Sgt. Brenton Schneider said. A witness reported a victim laying on the ground.

Authorities arrived to find two people with gunshot wounds and multiple shell casings discharged at the scene. The victims were transported to a local hospital. One victim, whose identity was not released, is being treated and expected to survive.

The other, identified Tuesday as Bradley Charles VanDyke, a former Marin City resident who has no fixed address, was pronounced dead at the hospital, Schneider said.

It is unclear if this was a targeted attack, but there is no known threat to the community, Schneider said.

Detectives are seeking suspects and surveillance footage that may help identify the suspects in the shooting.
