San Rafael police arrested a woman accused of threatening to hit people with a hammer in a Burger King parking lot.

The incident was reported at 1:55 p.m. Sunday at 969 East Francisco Blvd., police Lt. Dan Fink said. Witnesses said a woman attempted to drive a Toyota Camry into another vehicle with three occupants, Fink said.

The suspect exited her car and allegedly approached the victims while yelling and swinging the tool. The suspect left before police arrived, and no one was injured.

Officers saw a matching Toyota speeding on Bellam Boulevard. The suspect returned to the Burger King, and police detained her.

Charmaine Cosette Malone, 55, of San Rafael was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, reckless driving, exhibiting a deadly weapon and obstructing officers. She remained in custody Tuesday in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Malone, who was on probation, also had a suspended license and drugs in her possession, Fink said.
