Police arrested a San Rafael man for allegedly trying to strike a person with his vehicle during a parking dispute.
The incident happened at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday on Novato Street, where two people asked the suspect to move his car so they could drive out of a parking spot. An argument ensued, and the suspect allegedly threatened them with a knife and pushed one of the victims, according to San Rafael police Sgt. Justin Graham.
Then the suspect crashed his car into a victim’s vehicle several times and nearly drove into one of the victims, Graham said.
No injuries were reported. Officers arrested the suspect on Friday after finding him on Canal Street.
Hugo Martinez Morales, 36, was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism, exhibiting a weapon, battery and violating his probation conditions. He remained in custody without a bail amount Monday because of the alleged probation violation.
Martinez Morales knew the victims, possibly through family connections, Graham said.
