A motorcyclist died after crashing on Highway 101 near Interstate 580, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The motorcycle was traveling northbound just after 8 a.m. Friday when it struck a Ford F-150 towing a utility trailer, the CHP reported. The trailer ran over the motorcyclist.
The motorcyclist was transported to a hospital and died there. The truck driver stayed at the crash site and cooperated with investigators, the CHP said. Police do not suspect intoxication as a factor in the crash.
The crash backed up traffic on I-580 from the interchange to the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, CHP Officer Darrel Horner said. Police reopened all lanes just after 9 a.m.
Authorities did not release the motorcyclist’s name until they could notify immediate family.
