A pedestrian was injured in western Marin after being struck by a chain attached to a passing truck, the California Highway Patrol said.
The incident happened at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday on Highway 1 in Marshall. The victim was standing on the right shoulder of the road as the dark GMC Sierra approached, the CHP said.
The GMC was hauling a trailer carrying riding lawn mower. The chain was dragging on the road and knocked the victim to the ground. The victim was airlifted to a hospital and is expected to recover, police said.
The driver continued south on Highway 1 and has not been located. The CHP said anyone with potential information in the hit-and-run investigation can call its Marin office at 415-924-1100.
