The San Rafael Police Department arrested a resident on Tuesday following numerous 911 calls around 1:45 p.m. alleging that an adult male with a gun was on Starkweather Shoreline Pathway.
Callers told dispatchers that the subject had fired the handgun once into the air and was continuing to threaten people on the pathway with it. Officers set up a perimeter near the 2100 block of Francisco Boulevard East near the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge.
Jose Arguello-Gutierrez was quickly found hiding near a building. He immediately cooperated with police commands. A loaded handgun was found in the area where he was hiding, and an empty ammunition casing matching the caliber of the gun was found in the area where he is suspected of firing the gun. Officers state they found surveillance video that showed Arguello-Gutierrez pointing the gun at the head of a bicyclist on the path.
Nobody was injured during the incident. Arguello-Gutierrez was arrested on suspicion of several felony weapons charges. He was booked into Marin County Jail.
